Dear Parents,
Our first Chapter Test has been taken and graded with startling results. The class averages for each of the classes did not reach 80 per cent. While some students did well, most did not. This data represents that my instruction was insufficient. To that end, I have begun drastically editing all subsequent lessons toward a more Direct Instruction Model. We will continue using the same textbook. Chapter 1 Test will be re-administered this week, however the higher of the two grades will be recorded. As of this morning, my classes have begun a review in preparation for the retest. Chapter 1 is crucial to the course as the Problem-Solution-Effect model is the core of understanding Why historical events occurred. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] Steve Beckett, 6th Grade History Dear Parents,
Friday, the 9th of September, our Scholars will have their first History Test. Chapter 1 will be covered. In this Chapter, our Scholars learned about the Problem- Solution- Effect model. Within this model is the five types of Solutions: Accommodation, Domination, Movement, Invention, and Toleration (ADMIT). Concepts such as Culture, Multiculturalism, and Multiple Perspectives were defined for them, and will figure greatly in subsequent Chapters. Today, each Class period undertook considerable review. I am encouraging all Scholars to take their books home, as many did last night. If you have any questions, please contact me via email: [email protected]. Thank You, Steve Beckett, History, 6th Grade |
